The Quarterly now officially has comics in it. I'm very, very pleased by this development.
Also, the queries from the industry professionals are picking up, including a few names you'd certainly recognize (hint: they have written boxed sets and many a fine Dragon article). Those queries mean good stuff for issue #2, and whaddya know, a subscription covers that issue, plus issues #3 and #4. So why not sign up today, before the rates go up on July 1st?
As an added bonus, my pathetic failure as an advertising sales guy is YOUR gain! I promise minimal ads in the first issue.

Seriously, though, every industry pro was a beginner at some point. And I hope that the Q&A around some of the Open Design topics has helped a little.
On the other hand, as the Kobold is not (yet) a print magazine, there should be space enough for some new talents*.
Off topic: What I would like to see for a future Issue of Kobold is an article about "How to build spells". This is still terra incognita for me. Sean K. Reynolds was or is working on a PDF with this theme but otherwise I don't know any supplement that adresses the creation of spells.
*yes, yours truly submitted a query too.
I'm glad he's been keeping busy with the "Core Beliefs" columns for Dragon, though! Those articles have kept me looking for back issues.
This could be a huge selling point for some people.
It's good funny, though. Actually, two toons in the first issue.
