Patrons Welcome

Golden Sun & Star
[info]varianor reminds me that it might be worthwhile to ask if anyone wants to commission a project as a single patron. That's 64 pages of adventure or sourcebook text customized to a single patron's outline, at the bargain price of $3K. If you are interested in that commission, let me know before November 30th. I've always assumed that a single patron is unlikely to step forward, but then, I've never asked. Might be an interesting project, but I suspect that the days of Renaissance princes funding works for their private libraries are long gone. I'd love to be proven wrong.

For the rest of the world, the current Arabian Nights project is looking for a handful of patrons, so we can commission one more killer piece of art. The design work is well underway, and the final book will be at least 32 pages long, with six complete adventures.

In totally unrelated news, the last design essay for the Empire of the Ghouls patrons is now available for patrons. I'm probably going to compile those with the prior design essays at some point.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'd thought this would amuse you. Now that I know that you're available for commission by a single patron makes me think of the words "I'm your private writer..." sung to the tune of Tina Turner's, Private Dancer. :D

Other then that, I can't wait for the Arabian Nights kick off! woot!

Kick off has, er, kicked. Lots going on behind the scenes.

Tell you what, the moment I have a chance to act like my name is Daniel Di Medici, we're on. I don't know if/when it will happen, but the moment it does, I shall don my doublet, tights and codpiece (well, maybe) and give you a call.

Yes, milord, I eagerly await your elevation to the peerage.

And yes, a picture of the single patron in hose and codpiece (or skirts and corset, as appropriate) may become a requirement for me to take on a Serious Major Patrons.

Just to confirm their sense of humor. :)

Winning the Lotto
Well, If I win the lotto in California later this month while there on business, you can bet that I'll commission you to do not one, but an entire campaign path! :)

Sadly, short of winning the lotto, or finding out I have a long lost rich uncle, my dreams will not be realized.

Out of curiosity, how would that work? As far as OGL go, I mean... would you still have to maintain the SRD only policy? Would you be able to go into specific worlds? etc?

Another question... the $3000, would that include maps and artwork? or is that for words only?

Anyway, thanks for the asking... and I hope that someone is able to do so. But sadly it won't be me any time soon. :(

Re: Winning the Lotto
It just hit me... this would be a way to get my non-winning campaign concept worked on! :) (damned that Eberron setting!)

:)

::sigh::

what nice dreams....

Re: Winning the Lotto
I hope you win the Lotto. :)

As far as OGL, it wouldn't matter. As an entirely private commission, I could use all the WotC materials, no SRD, etc. I wouldn't be publishing anything, just creating a single copy for you. So, anything goes.

The price is for text. I suspect that a patron at that level might want pretty ritzy art and graphics (think Christopher West maps, art by Brom and Lockwood, etc), which naturally is not cheap. I'll sort out how to get the right style of maps and art when that patron arrives. Until then, it's mostly just idle speculation.

*Is seriously considering commissioning Wolfgang to pen an entire 12 part AP involving only Flumphs, krenshars, digesters, and shocker lizards.*

Hi Wolfgang - I just saw the message that said you were looking for some extra patrons for Arabian Nights, and wanted to let you know that I have joined the team! You should be getting my Paypal information shortly. Thanks for having me on board!

Are you still looking for patrons on Arabian Nights or should I wait until the next project?

Well, the project was commissioned and has been designed and playtested. It's now in the editing phase, and ships in about 2-3 weeks.

If you want a copy, you are certainly welcome to support it. Or if you prefer to start from the ground up, the next project will be announced later this month. Your call!
