Looks like the fundraising has overshot the target a little. No further donations will be accepted, and due to the an excess I'll be refunding the last to arrive.

I want to say a huge thank-you to everyone who pledged their support! I'm kind of overwhelmed by the speed and strength of the response, and I appreciate all the donations, large and small. It was a bit of a wild ride.

The next step is reviewing the license. I'll be doing that as soon as it's in hand from WotC. You can expect no further 4E comments here, though, due to the NDA requirements. I will be communicate the results with the License donors once we've got NDAs all around.

Oh well, guess I dove in after the pool was emptied, eh?
No matter - Looking forward to the future of OD and 4E and the next OD project.

And here I was planning to contribute (both financially and literally). Too late, or should I just move that money over to a Kobold subscription? ;)

who's curious but still dubious as well

Sorry, Steven, the donation kitty really is entirely full.

I would say go for the Kobold subscription or the PDF subscription.

Wow, that was quick! Congrats!

Awwwwe I was too slow

I'm amazed at how quickly this all came together.

Is there a way to get confirmation (rather than wondering if there's a return still pending) of "accepted donor" status? :)
Jan. 12th, 2008 11:52 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I owe everybody a confirmation email tonight. If you don't have the welcome mail by noon Sunday, contact me.

Hey, congrats and good luck with the new job!

June will be here sooner than you think, and I'm sure some of the Open Design "early adopter" crowd will share their take on the edition as soon as it releases. And some design tricks will surely spill over to future Open Design projects regardless.

Woot Congrats Wolfgang.!.. Nemesis silliness aside, I'm happy to have been part of those who helped pull this off.

Congrats to all involved! I did not have the finances for this venture, but I'm happy to see Open Design excel in anyway it can.

I'm hoping the first thing outta the gate is a print book on the city with a player's supplement quickly to follow. A good strong setting would be a great start for 4e.

Strong Setting
I agree with Joe -- a good 4e setting book would be awesome, since a lot of people may not go 4e FR, nor will they want to spend too much time homebrewing the PoL default setting. I, personally, don't have the time to brew my own these days.

Re: Strong Setting
I have to agree, a GREAT 4E setting book such as Zobeck would be AWESOME... on so many levels... especially if it also had available a nice 1st through 4th level adventure path...

I am so disappointed that this is the first OD I didn't contribute to. :( I had planned on donating today. :(

But if I understand the purpose of this correctly, what ever comes of *THIS* project will be the first ever PUBLIC OD product? So I'll still be able to purchase it?

Will the purchase of the 4E license mean that there will not be another OD project? OD5?

Re: Strong Setting
The donations for the license aren't really a "project" in the sense of prior Open Design projects. There's no outlines or voting or anything along those lines.

The final result of the license will be a public Open Design release, so yes, you will be able to purchase it sometime after August 1 (according to the terms of the license).

And if you decide to go via the City of Steam have a preorder for those who supported ya here eh? Let us in on the old action. It can be like Ptlous. Preorder and get the PDF bonuses or something.

Well, dang. The ship was built and set sail before I even knew the dock was there. I guess I need to check in more often. :)

Ah, well. Congratulations Wolfgang.
On the plus side I bought a Kobold sub, so I have something to read at work today when there aren't and crises to manage.
