Podcasts and the NEXT Open Design

Purple dragon, Devil and Merchant Prince, deathcap, arms of Zobeck, Raven wings, English scribe, black blood, Arabian Caliph, Jiro Logo, Eagle Ludwigs, Codex Red and Blue, Arabian Knife Fight, Coat of Arms Rooster and Bear, Golden Sun & Star, Green light, Book of Kells lettering, maps, Blue griffon, Genie, Ghouls, Medusa, Scáthsidhe, D&D 4E logo, Fetch cheese!, KQ Logo, Dire sheep, blood calligraphy, blood, Heraldry Germany, Council of 12, Nicolas Logue, Open Design Logo 2, OD Green Logo, Last call clock, Kobold
I did a podcast this morning that should go live next week. In the meantime, I wanted to point out a specifically Blood of the Gorgon related podcast from a little while ago over at The Tome Show. Nicolas Logue spills the whole bloody story on the project in an sort-of-recent podcast there. No idea why I didn't mention it here sooner.

What else? Oh, I talked to the guys over at Private Sanctuary about KQ and gaming. Episode 28; they've been around a while.

Finally, I'm happy to announce that I'll be writing the next Open Design project. The system is likely to be 3.5E (unless there's a sudden surge of 4E support), and I'll announce the details on May 1.

I am thrilled that the next Open Design will be 3.5e. Thanks for supporting us grognards.

Happy to represent the Old Skool, which will continue as the new Pathfinder Skool.

FWIW, I'll also be doing some 4E design if the GSL ever ships. That discussion is underway with the license patrons right now.

YAY!!!!

(Doing the happy dance!)

While I have no interest in 4E, I know the show must go on, but I am still very happy with 3.5. So count me in!

(But then again, I could be tempted to go with Pathfinder too!!!!)

Wolfgang, any hints about the next project????

Patrick

No hints. There's two good pitches that the senior patrons have discussed. I'm not sure which one will be the final choice.

No votes for the rabble? (Not that I would object to a unilateral declaration of a Zobeck sourcebook, mind you...)

Well, there may be votes for the rabble yet, but I was hoping to avoid the "runoff" style of earlier Open Designs.

For what it's worth, I really enjoyed the runoff votes. It made me feel more like a patron of the project, rather than a subscriber.

I understand why it didn't happen for Six Arabian Nights (the consensus just happened on its own when people started writing about their Arabian Nights ideas), but I was disappointed to be presented with Blood of the Gorgon as the only choice - though I'm not likely to be disappointed with the final result.

On the other hand, you won't have to deal with people saying "I'm only going to vote for X, and if X doesn't win, I want my dollars back."

You can still count on me for OD6, votes or no.

which senior patrons - currned OD only? :D
Hi Wolfgang---

Which patrons are you querying about the new OD project---onnly the current senior patrons for the 4.0 OD project?

Allan.

Re: which senior patrons - currned OD only? :D
Yep, the current senior patrons always get first crack at those sorts of things. In this case, it's the senior patrons for Blood of the Gorgon that I consulted.

There isn't a formal 4.0 project (though there was a license fund that led to a 4E adventure). That one is currently in flux, since there's no need for a license anymore. The 4E adventure may still continue, it depends on how those patrons fell about it.

Rocking news on both fronts-3.5 and your authorship, although I've enjoyed seeing Nick's work a great deal too!

I'll be coming back for this one, then. :-)

See you at GTS.

I wish I were going to GTS; I was really looking forward to seeing you and other folks. I booked a room and a flight, and now....

Well, other work has blown up and there's no way I'm going to make it.

Glad to see 3.5E is the next design. And hopefully long may it continue

You'll always get my 3.x dollars!

...is it May 1st yet?

Of course it is May 1st--in my world, it is always May 1st.... so spill already Woflgang! Make those "senior" patrons get over their senior moments and decide! BTW--I further support any 3x Open Design projects...

Not sure if I'll be the only detractor, but I'm not sure about OD6 being v3.5. I was looking forward to something for 4e or the Zobeck sourcebook. Oh well.
As for the run-off thing, I'm with avidreader514 - votes for the rabble. And the hoi polloi!

There was a 4E OD project running with the patrons of the license donation, but that seems to have been overtaken by events.

Not sure whether the patrons who donated for the license will want to continue the project or not.

4e GSL
Well, I assume you haven't been contacted by WotC yet. So if the news today ( http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4news/20080417a ) is any indication, you won't have access to the GSL until June 6.

Unless they did contact you, in which case you will have a decision to meka, I suppose.

This also means the $5000 isn't needed, in any case.

Re: 4e GSL
The $5000 is not needed, unless the patrons want to continue the 4E design currently underway.

I expect I'll refund pretty much all of those donations very shortly.

Re: 4e GSL
As I said on the 4e thread, I'd like to continue with that project. More interested in a 4e project than a 3.5 one now that we know that there is going to be a GSL and 3rd party support for D&D 4th Edition.

Tome Show Presents: Blood of the Gorgon ep 2 of 4
Just downloaded and started to listen to the second episode in this series by The Tome Show. This episode Wolfgang speaks with Jeff about the status of BoG and how the process has been going up to here.
