Convention season is here, and with it the very first Kobold Quarterly Annual. You could say that kobolds can't count; we're doing a 5th issue for the quarterly!

The PDF issue has gone out to subscribers, and those lucky folks also get a free copy of the Kobold Death Maze adventure from Super Genius Games.

The Death Maze is a 4th Edition D&D adventure with printable maps for your table and printable minis as well. A pretty great little deathtrap by one of the better adventure publishers out there. (Yes, they are an advertiser with KQ, but really, they're doing good work).

The issue itself is pretty great as well, and includes:
  • The Truth about Tieflings by their creator, David “Zeb” Cook
  • New Blood Magic
  • Codes of Conduct for Paladins
  • the Ecology of the Phantom Fungus (laughed at the pitch, but I love the article!)
  • And an interview with designer Monte Cook!

If, for some reason, your KQ subscription is not current, you can subscribe to the print+PDF or PDF-only version right here and get the issue and the adventure right off the bat.

Love the alternate powers for tieflings...and you're right...trust him on the phantom fungus ecology.

Befuddlecated
Wolfgang,

I know I had a subscription 'way back when you started, that lapsed during the edition questions. So, I'm thinking I must be a returning emember, but I have no idea what my ID would be.

Help, please?

Er... I think I might have accidently sort of deleted your email. Oops. I just resubscribed on the 8th of August (and bought and then read the Kobold Guide to Game Design at the same time - fantastic book BTW). Can you resend?

Not got an email so I'll assume my subscription must have lapsed - oh no! - and so I'll renew it asap. In fact, on reflection its probably better to just give Kobold Quarterly/Open Design all my money each month, then just beg Wolfgang for an allowance.

No e-mail yet
Wolfgang,
No Kobold e-mail yet. Should I just be patient, or is something amiss with my account? (I renewed several months back for the pdf/print option.)
Thanks!
Lori

Hi,

I've also renewed and not got an email yet. Is all OK?

Well, my ISP and various webmail providers are all my enemies here, because they think any mass mailing is spam by definition.

So, sometimes entire blocks of addresses seem to vanish into a black hole. I'll be hammering on this tonight and you should see a mail.... soon.

Or, shoot me a quick email and I'll set you up.

I renewed subscription a while ago
(and even added print to it)

So far, no e-mail. I won't know about the print until September, though...

Re: I renewed subscription a while ago
Some emails seem to be passing through the eye of a needle today. I'll dig into it some more tonight, but you should have a resend in your inbox.

Next thing you know we'll need an email chain letter. ;)

Okay, I like this issue a lot. I'm digging through it more on my lunch this week since I have to do Gen Con prep in the evenings. I did however have to stop and read the Kobold Death Maze. Awesome concept. The tiles are particularly nice. (I do lament the death of black and white maps. Color is purty and expensive. Quite a step up in quality ennit?)

Hey, I'm sure the Super Geniuses would love a review. Maybe in the forums, or on RPG.net?

Can probably do both, plus ENWorld.

Post Gen Con of course.

Re: Treekillers
Hi

Is the annual going out in print format to subscribers of print editions or do I need to place a special order?

Many thanks
