A new monster from American folklore is up for your amusement at Koboldquarterly.com. It's by the Might John Ling, and there's more coming.

Because there's no such thing as too many monsters, I hope to continue this series on a frequent basis. Let me know what you think!

Loved it.

Hope to see many many more in a similar vein.

So many folkloric monsters that could be covered here - real world mythos is rich with them.

. . . and sent!

Wanted to reserve a certain creature before it gets taken, unless Mr. Ling is already slated to cover it.

In which case, can't wait to see it!

Some old Welsh wickedness is winging its way...

Real world mythological beasts are so much mor interesting, and so neglected (or just butchered) in D&D. And I always think they suit Zobeck's "eastern europe with magic" style, by the way.

Very cool, folklore can be fun, as it lends a built in "feel" to it that can enrich the encounter. It's one of my favorite things about the contemporary RPG, such as Dark*Matter *grins*, in that they've been flooded with such things as bigfoot, noggins, boggins, mothmen, spring-heeled jack, and other things that bump the night away.
