Review: Castle Shadowcrag

Scáthsidhe
I am happy to point you to a recent review of the previous Open Design project, by Crothian on ENWorld.

Thanks again to all the patrons who supported the project — Open Design isn't possible without you.

(And a hat tip to [info]varianor!)

Hey, I've got a question for ya.

Back when you opened up Shadowcrag for purchase by patrons of other projects, I went ahead and paid for it, but I never did receive a copy. Should I have by now? Was there something else I was supposed to do, or some link I needed to follow?

Just checked; I sent your copy on March 21st to the usual email address. Hmmmm.

Since you didn't get it, might want to double check your spam list. Anyway, I'll zip and resend in just a moment.

How big is the file? If it's larger than a meg or so, I've got an alternate address I'd prefer you use.

Just let me know. And thanks. :-)

It's about 4 MB. Lots of adventure and maps and a full-color cover and ....

Well, 4 MB.

Ah, okay. Just sent an e-mail to you with an alternate address.

Sorry to be a pain.

Sent and bounced. "The e-mail message could not be delivered because the user's mailfolder is full."

You're a busy man, Mr. Marmell.

Got it at the alternate address. Thanks much! Looks great. :-)

"You're a busy man, Mr. Marmell."

Heh. Not nearly so much so as I'd like. (I'm actually between gigs at the moment, save for the editing pass on the novel.) Mostly, it's just that my standard e-mail account is fairly cheap. :-}

Do you need or want a google, Mr. Marmell?

I've only got, like, 97 invites left. *chuckles*

Got one. That's where my alternate address is, in fact. :-)

But thank you.

Not a problem, I try to be helpful, so as to counter the bad karma of being a jerk with the good karma of being a helpful jerk. :D

two things
Crothian´s review, albeit written a bit more blunt, really catches the essence of Shadowcrag. Thumbs up!

What is up with WotC? Dragonlance licence removed?
What´s next?
Re-Launch of old campaign worlds?

I wonder if there´l be some Buck Rogers products in the near future...

Re: two things
I think the only way anyone would see Buck Rogers would be to contact whomever holds the authors original rights and ask about a license, unless it's now in the public domain.

I doubt that WotC owns those rights from TSR days, anymore.

Re: two things
In fact, via http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buck_Rogers, we have the following:

Ownership of Buck Rogers and other works later passed into the hands of the Dille Family Trust. Flint Dille was John F. Dille's grandson. All trademark pertaining to "Buck Rogers" is now registered to the Dille Family Trust. Those trademarks formerly specific to TSR have been cancelled.

Re: two things
I think WoTC should relaunch Greyhawk. That would make about 5,000 people's heads over at ENWorld explode.

Re: two things
That would be truly amazing. But I'm pretty sure Greyhawk is dead and gone, barring the Expedition to Castle Greyhawk.

Re: two things
Oh, I don't think its likely to happen, either. I just think it would be funny, because the guys complaining about Dragon & Dungeon going away are mostly the same guys who wnat Greyhawk, and right now there's a bunch of very binary thinking - the internet is a lot like Varsuvius' theory of Blkar's proto-brain; the switch is between hate/lust, and their heads would explode from the irreconcilable contradiction.

Re: two things
Although I am suppose to be asleep right now, I even told someone who can read this that I'm suppose to be asleep, yet something called and tugged at my soul and now I know why.

*cackles*

Dude, this would be so freakin' hilarious, it'd be the Dr. Karma's Silver Hammercane going thump upon some heads.

What?

Yes, I just bastardized and paraphrased a Beatles' song as a visual to exploding geek heads.

I'm just that cool. *grins*

Anyhow, while I'm one of those who would love to see a relaunch, done right and proper, of Greyhawk, I'm not one of the hate-on for WotC types.

Unless them thinking that I hated them would get them to do an Expedition to Castle Greyhawk or relaunch Greyhawk, then we hates them nasty wotciese, we hates them lots!

*chuckles*

Okay, third time is the charm and I'm really turning in now.

Night!

Re: two things
Hints are trickling into the Living Greyhawk grapevine that sales of Expedition to the Castle Greyhawk Ruins will be used to decide whether or not to publish more Greyhawk material. So, please, buy more copies. =)

Re: two things
I speculate that a Greyhawk campaign resurrection would have to be tied to a 4th edition. That's just my 2 cents.

No way to obtain?
So, I take there is no way to obtain Castle Shadowcrag? I'm in and out of the PDF scene (tend to spend too much money on them) and just spotted the review. I'm a big fan of the courts, and that has sparked my interest in this.

Re: No way to obtain?
It's only available to current patrons (those who are sponsoring Empire of the Ghouls). If you'd like to become a current sponsor, you can get a "back issue".

But yes, I'm trying to keep the overall number of copies distributed fairly low, and will stop offering Shadowcrag sometime, most likely when Empire is completed.

Re: No way to obtain?
So do you have to be a patron or will a standard membership suffice to get a back issue?

Re: No way to obtain?
Standard membership is enough. At least until the print run ends entirely (I'm capping it at 150 copies).
